Everything you need to know about Covid19

Ever since COVID-19 has taken the shape of a pandemic, the world has entered panic mode. As the number of active cases as well as the death toll is increasing, it has become crucial for people to get tested for Coronavirus to ensure safety and timely treatment.

Suspect you have Covid Symptoms?

People who are facing issues in their health and suspect that they may be infected with Coronavirus should understand that Covid 19 symptoms include:

  • A high body temperature
  • Continuous coughing
  • A loss of sense of taste and smell

In this case, you can get a PCR test done to diagnose the presence of a virus in the body. If you are going for a PCR test then the patient and their family members should stay at home till the test results come.

In case someone has got tested positive for Covid 19 in the last 90 days then there is no need to get a PCR test unless and until there are symptoms of the infection in their body.

  • If the person has been in contact with someone who has been tested positive for Covid 19.
  • If a person has been advised or ordered to get tested by the local authority or contact tracers in their area.
  • If a health professional advises you to take the test.
  • If a person is about to participate in a project under governmental authority.
  • The people who have been asked to get tested for Covid 19.
  • Those who are suspicious of their test reports and are told to get the test done again to clarify the conditions.
  • Those who are in the National Tactical Response Group.
  • The people who need to get the test for a person showing symptoms and lives with them.

How Do I Get A Covid Test

Individuals Self-Isolating After Coming In Contact With A Covid Positive Patient

Those who have been in direct or close contact with a person who has been tested positive for Covid 19 it is crucial for them to get a PCR test regardless of the presence or absence of the symptoms.

A test is one of the best indicators to show the presence of Coronavirus in a person’s body, or if they had been infected by it in the past. If in case the test results are positive, it is a clear indicator that the person has been affected by the virus Thus, self isolation should be the first thing in mind which ensures that the infection does not spread on to other people. The self isolation is advised for a minimum of 10 days despite your test result being negative as there are chances of getting infected even after that.

Paying Visits To Hospitals

If you have surgery due or your treatment is going on and it is important for you to visit the hospital, it is necessary to get a test done to ensure you are not infected by the Coronavirus. This can be easily arranged by the hospital’s end. Furthermore, you can get in touch with the hospital department in your area in case of queries.

Going Abroad?

Are you planning to travel internationally? In that case, it is possible that you would be asked to get tested for Coronavirus before beginning with your travel endeavors. In this case, the person needs to get tested by a private lab on their own.

What is included in a PCR Test?

The PCR test includes a simple procedure of taking a swab of the back of your throat and inside of the nose through a long cotton bud. PCR expands to Polymerase Chain Reaction and it is done to detect the genetic material from an organism, such as a virus. The test is successful in detecting the fragments of the virus even if a person has been recovered from the infection.

A positive Covid19 test result means that a person is infected by the virus. Although, a negative result simply does not mean that you have never been infected by Coronavirus. It means that the virus was not present at the time you took the test. The test results usually come within 24 hours after the sample is collected.
